Her War

She closes her lips before a breath escapes,
before they have a moment, a reason to torment her.
She sits down with a pen and paper,
the only escape that she is allowed to have.
She closes her eyes in the nighttime dusk,
dreaming, pondering what this war means.
She wonders and contemplates about an escape,
a way and a possibility to depart from the pain.
