the colors of the sun

she folded her cape
with patience and care
as if it had once folder her:

a flimsy cloth to build a shelter
but she lived inside with pride
never once without
a yellow cape
to tightly hold

sun rise
sun fall
she watched from above
suspended over the lake
bathing in the dry sun
wrapped tightly in her yellow cape

acorns scattered around
amongst the green
like the sun, they fall
but unlike, they do not rise
what a pitiful demise
she thought

but forgot

green:
the grass
which blue,
like the lake
mixed around into
brown: the acorns under
her feet: a pale pink
washing up to yellow:
her cape held tight
yellow like the light

dawning now
she and
the sun suspending over the lake
but she was more like an acorn
with only one fall to take

shimmer, ripple, up and down the colors of the sun go ‘round
