Moonstruck

As the sea meets the moon.

goddess of night
and mother of stars,
speaks gently to her love

That does not share her world.

woman of many secrets
and sister to the sand
listens carefully to her love

That does not share her world.

marooned by fate
with a destiny neither can shake
they may only dream

Of their lover’s fleeting touch.

and in this dream
the two will sing sweetly
in the embrace

Of their lover’s fleeting touch.

and though it may seem
their longing will never cease
love finds a way.

They will be together.

losing their mind
in an aching hysteria
they decided to be close.

They will be together.

and on that day
where the stars align,
and the sand lets go,

They find each other.

on that day
when night is bright
and secrets are no more

They find each other.

and when finally her hands cup her lover’s face
oh, how the tide gives in
to moon’s gentle kiss.

Oh how lovely it must feel.

To have found each other,
To be together!
And with this fleeting touch,
They share their worlds.

I wanted to write a poem that personified the moon pulling the sea closer with its gravity. This is the result.
