The sand felt like ice cream
On my naked toes
The water splashed
My brown legs
With vicious, furious force
Sea shells coated the shore
Spitting remains of life before
I wondered what stories
They could tell
Bending over I
Examined them carefully
To pick the perfect shell
I could feel the sun
Soaking into my skin
Some little boy
Ran bye having fun
With his sand bucket
Firmly grasped
I watched him as I
Dreamt of my
Lost youth past
Climbing the sand hills
With my prize
Slipping out of my hand
Gulping down tiny white pills
I sunk myself into the silk sand
I felt it’s fingers hold me
Satisfying me
It felt nice
To be held
I longed for touch
I never thought
I asked for too much
I let my eyelids
Meet each other
And it was that moment
I felt part of our world, mother
I was free
I felt my soul rise
Don’t cry for me
Just watch it,
Watch it
Washing me
Away
