Learning Anew

When will we all learn?

It’s safe enough to wade in,
Not to jump head first,
Eyes closed, heart open.

Leaving nothing but an open wound, A gash on the soul so blood red, it would make a murderous heart leap.

Honesty, well, honestly you are not.

Call you friend as you think of me as foe, I demand as you demean, leading us both to a block we have seen before.

Over and over, a circle that binds, but could break with the flick of a finger, an airy breath.

Take it in stride, as it builds an avalanche of hot stone before you.

Until one day, you find yourself walking on fire that burns and breaks you down to matter meant less than nothing.

It is from nothing that something comes, a new life, perhaps a new mind, then we will learn anew.

See the folly and gimmicks that have only bound us  to break us.
