May Mankind Reason Peacefully
May Humanity Learn to Debate in Harmony
It is so easy to dismiss the view of another
To disparage an opinion with unkind words
And discredit their observation with insults
To quickly ride roughshod over their remark
And tell folks they are wrong in an instance
Not to digest what they try to communicate
Invalidating their data by claims of stupidity
By attacking their character and intelligence
And not taking on board what the other says
Some employ intimidation or threat to argue
Assume they’re superior and are always right
Their view is the only one that truely matters
Their minds are made up unwilling to change
They do not reason as to expand their minds
But argue to inflate egos and to self validate
Their motives and their agenda aren’t genuine
They can easily become belligerent and mean
Their words fuelled by self loathing and hatred
An exchange of ideas should be all our motives
We should all endeavour to try and be objective
Unbiased in our judgments, and willing to sway
We should debate with gentle reason and logic
Be rational, communicate wi’ respect for others
Let’s not rubbish others opinions with bad vibes
But give well thought out rebuttals of inspiration
Let’s change opinions and views with kind words
To change the world wi’ the power of true reason
