The Lutenist

Pluck a gentle sound
Forlorn tuned fancy down
So many strings to fret
Tuned to the times, regret

Rowdy tavern inn or bar
Our player overcomes duress
To Reminisce about the past
Of love that never lasts

Better when in a low minor key
Sets the tone for what is to be
Repentance and regret a must
In God only he trusts

Knows the future is the grave
And in rest, wait to be Saved
The melody and notes did somehow last
And reach my ears today
Diving across the distant past

The Lutenist
