Poem: Smile

The look that makes me mad
and losing all resolve
submit to her love,
for just another glimpse
of that soul-dissolving smile.

It lit me up so well,
I floated for days on end
and when all else was lost,
recalls that potent smile.

She speaks so soft and sweet
and asks for nothing much
all you recall are lips a’twitch,
that shake you to your core.

I worked so hard to smile back,
I knew not what I’d do;
I only knew her face’s promise
for me, my souls reward.

I closed my eyes, I look away,
my freedom’s just too dear;
but should again I find her, my special one,
I’ll look without a moment’s fear,
surrendering my soul to her
for all eternity.
