Strength

Driving my way home tonight
I couldn’t see the streets
And I couldnt feel my hands
I could barely move my feet

When the street lights shined
all I felt was misplaced
I had waited a whole day
just to touch your face

And as the roads kept winding
and my car began to warm
and my fingertips were moving
like the feeling was reborn

The only thing Id think of
was some years down the road
sitting next to me by a fire place
on a cold winter, I saw your face

Maybe it was the combination
of the high and love songs
but I couldnt change the station
So I just sang along

And the louder I was singing
the faster my heart beat
and my ears began ringing
knowing you’re thinking of me

I close my eyes and wonder
how I ever fell in love
with so much hate in my life
what didnt I do wrong

I never thought Id trust it
No, I never thought I’d feel
that something like this, could exist
that Id ever believe it was real

I cant imagine a moment
when I cant hear your voice,
and I cant kiss you lips
Like Id have no other choice

I cant nearly picture
a single day that could go by
without the one person I love
lying by my side

Ive slowly come to realize
all the changes that Ive made
have been motivated by you
for the home I wish to make

I never thought anyone
would put my ass in gear
without getting in my face
and physically pushing me there

A word you haven’t spoken
An idea you haven’t passed
I did it on my own
because for you I want the best

And there will never be
a day that you wont be fed
that you wont feel warmth
or a roof over your head

I would lie my life
on the line before your eyes
just to see you live another day
or just pass one more smile

Some days I just wake up
and although you’re in your bed
I can still feel you in mine
You remain in my head

My home is where your heart is
and may I be blessed to keep
that perfect little organ
right where mine beats

I swore Id love you always
I swear Ill love you now
and when you wake up in the morning
dare not you wonder how

The comfort and security
the grazing of your hand
makes me the most content
for not a boy, Ive found a man

That man can be fragile
he can hug and kiss and laugh
but hes the strongest one i know
and that strength will always last
