Fading Dreams

Wind blows, Rain falls
On those days we can recall
Teenage dreams that you used to have
Are they still held in your palms?
Clouds move with the wind
Tears were forgotten
All of us walking
Down that road
Did anyone get lost?
We said we would never leave
Together, we will always be
Fighting against time with you
It would be us against the world
Wind blows, Sun shines
Our hair turns white
Promising that we’d see the world together
Do you still remember that?
The past summers
We promised that we would make it
Hand in hand on this boat
Crossing a sea full of tears
You said you would never leave
Together we would always be
Everything that we said
Were they just childish promises?
I said I would never let go
When we were young and full of hope
Oh, I beg, please don’t forget
Please keep me in your memories
Please don’t let it washed away
Please don’t let your memories fade
Because I am still here with you.

This piece of poetry was written when I was about to graduate from high school (2015). I reflected on a lot of things. One of them is the people that were there with me since freshmen year. We were a group of 900 freshmen, but there were only 600 of us that graduated. Therefore, this poetry speaks out to those that never get the opportunity to complete 4 years of high school. We all had dreams as we entered 9th grade. However, some dreams started to fade because we didn't realize how important education is in helping us reach our dreams. Some of us realized it a little bit too late. Some of us never really has that one person who pushes us to strive harder. Thus, it was an honor that I got to be your classmate. Also, I will always remember you all and I will always be here with you.
