Summer Lovin'

We spent the summer under the trees
the oaks and dogwoods
light summer breeze
and you gave me something that I never knew
you gave me love
warm and true

We danced under starlight
and kissed by the sea
everyone disappeared
but you and me
No matter the day
or week
or hour
our love bloomed like a brilliant flower

The sun beat down
and air flushed
under the stars we’d lay
while the crickets hushed
they sang to us the sweet little tune
of falling in love in the middle of June

but now the trees die
and leaves start to fall
but our love stays the same
because we’ve been through it all
I just want to thank you
for those summer days
and the many small moments
that took my breath away

Summer fourteen was one of the best
and was very different from the rest
because what made that summer love so true
was the fact that I was in love with you
