The Man on Death Row

The earth is full of doubts
Life is full of memories
He sits there and wonders
What to remember
They say he should remember
The good times
And leave the bad behind
But somehow
When it comes to memories
The bad over powers the good

He can’t escape
The imprisonment
That each emotion
A memory takes
Heart and soul
He loses control

Loss and deception
When will there be
A confession
His heart pounds
In this awful
Travesty

His skin begins to crawl
His blood begins to boil
Soon it is pouring down
Like a red oil
He lays there with no sound
But the same sin is repeated
In every other town

Can we really stop?
What is about to happen
Can we really rid ourselves
Of sin and temptation

It boggles our minds
The things people do
But how they think and feel
Brings them to a place
They have almost lost complete control
It is a need, a desire
To keep a flame alive

Until the day they find
The candle burning at both ends
Closer and closer
The marks begin to show
Until the end is here
And all the fear
Gone from his eyes

No forgiveness
No answers why
He paid for a crime
He did not commit
He did not have the time
But the time went so slow
The end of his life
The man that was on
Death row
