A Song Amongst The Waves

Smell of salt, calling,
Water writhing far beneath,
The sirens count our footsteps
As the ocean stirs from sleep.
The time is now,
I feel it,
Send your memories to the wind,
This strand will stretch beneath our feet
And lead us to the end.

Follow me into the mouth,
Your hand dust in mine,
The hearts and holds are shackles to be shed and left behind,
I hold you to my lips,
Draw in deep, then blow away,
A song amongst the waves, crashing hard against the bay.

As frail as whisper, drowning,
Between the trenches and the shore,
Your song will slow to zero
Losing reason, truth and form.
Learn to forget,
The tide,
It blossoms fearless by your side.
The need to join the whole
Is now the willingness to die.

Dive with me into the swirl,
Our features broke and blurred,
The fracture fills and slowly pushes cold upon the nerves.
We hold each other, silent,
Water blossoms through the lungs,
As ghosts below the water mouthing words that can’t be sung.
