I just woke up from a nap

Coincidentally, at exactly 11:59 PM

It’s New Year’s Day

The first thing I did was go to the bathroom

That’s exactly what New Year’s Day is worth

Or any holiday

Better yet, any day of the year

A piss

It’s not a splendid joy

Nor is it a terrible grievance

Just a piss

That trivial repetition that never tires itself out

And yet always seems so pivotal

In the end, it’s just another day
