a simple man

A cool breeze enters the forest carefully as the
leaves are already falling and arranging their bed
in a circle beneath
Keeping warm the smallest root
Cupping the morning dew
Catching each drop of rain with care
Sharing in even measure
So the tree can reach as trees will do
Ever upward
Till out of view
Harmony is not preached
Laws not drawn in any lawful place
Rules await some simple man
Who comes upon this wondrous scene
And with words
Yes words
Tries to express a greater plan
that he perceives in his wisdom great
An act of nature now described
Pushing all of nature’s intent aside
Alone he knows how the forest grows
And puts into formula and printed form
And his book now bound and read by all
Man indeed must feel profound
or not at all…………………………….
