A Grace Too Hard to Carry

When disaster comes to a city,
has not the LORD caused it?
Amos 3:6B

The smoking, crackling and burning
of recent times, the destruction
suggested by some to be the work
of God in judgement, has been replaced
now, with an answer to prayer, some say:
the sky is grey, limitless rain has come,
to some places at least, and the roads hiss
with the traffic, the air is damp and the rain
chimes on the rail of the balcony.

I hear that some places almost been destroyed
by “God’s judgement” in the fires
are now muddy unliveable swamps
under the rain that’s a sign of “God’s love”

What did we ever do to deserve such love?
