Will to Redemption

There is solace in the bush, amongst the trees,
there is redemption laying on the moist grass
by the river as the troubles flow way with the water.
There is peace to be found in the wilder parts
of the mountains to the West.

But I sit in the city where I belong for now.
There’s precious little peace in the noise and the fury,
there’s nothing so crude as burying the earth
beneath stone and concrete and marking it out
with glaring metal and glass.

I must go to the places of solace and peace,
I must never forget the call of the earth
and I will see beyond the confines of this crude city,
My mind and my body are captive to this town
but my soul is captive to the redemption.
