Foolish Words of a Wise Weed Man

I wandered up a steep moutain trek
The sun shone high in a cloudy sky
The wind howled into my cold ears
I was out of breath hiking slowly up
Spots of rain fell upon my shoulders
I turned my collar up to a raging gale
And slowly plodded upwards and on
I had heard that a wise sage habited
A cave up top of the mountain pass
He was very well known for wisdom
It was said his brain power was vast
And his spirituality knew no bounds
His intellect and insights were acute
I arrived out of breath after the climb
A top aroma i recognised trickled out
Of a gloomy dank damp cave mouth
I cried a greeting just to hear silence
I shouted again and heard a voice talk
Upon a command i entered the cave
An old man sat on a blanket on straw
The darkened cave was lit by candles
He was smokin’ a long stemmed pipe
He beckoned me forward with a grin
He did offer me a smouldering bowl
I took it and inhaled the sage’s herb
He put a flaming stick unto the bowl
And encouraged me to tell my story
I smoked and i babbiled away to him
I told him i was a fool upon a quest
I was searching for wisdom’s secret
He sat listening as i did babble away
I told him my life story and sad days
Pipe after pipe was passed unto me
He didn’t say a word as we smoked
But sat stoned and listened intently
I asked him about his wise secrets
An’ mystery of his immense wisdom
He broke his silence but spoke little
Et vir sapins semper stultum audit
He continued smoking on his chillum
I didn’t understand his strange words
So I left somewhat discombobulated
I sat and smoked alone in my house
I read many books to find his words
I learnt about grammar, and inflection
I was amazed to find their meanings
I could see what a fool that i had been
That i should’ve listened more careful
Et vir sapins semper stultum audit
A wise man will always listen to fools
