They are outnumbered
Supporters of the former president
who pack his rallies
swallow his pronouncements whole
and believe there was some “great” time
that can be attained again
when brown people are kept away
and the blacks remember “their place”
and the gays return to their closet
are making some noise
to shield their champion
from the consequences
of his terrible behavior.
They believe,
among the other falsehoods
they have bought into
through the years,
that they are the majority,
they are the mainstream,
they are the “real” Americans.
But the results
of the 2020 election
reveal otherwise.
For every one of his voters,
there are millions more
who voted to deny him
a second term in office.
They will never accept this,
but it’s still the truth.
Remember this
as we proceed
along uncharted paths
in the weeks
and months ahead.
He wanted to be
and still aspires to become
the type of a despot
that Washington’s troops
fought against,
over two centuries ago.
American patriots
must remember this,
in the face of
defensive blustering
from this nation’s
gullible minority.
