Plight of the Junebug

The next time you’re gardening
upon your lovely terrace
make sure to keep a lookout
for the Phyllophaga Harris.

More commonly known as a Junebug
or in its larval form, a grub.
They can eat away your flowers
or perhaps a nearby shrub.

They aren’t nasty creatures, really;
Their lifespan is quite short.
They are viewed with some annoyance
It pains me to report.

The name comes from studies done by Thaddeus William Harris, first published in 1826.
