Gary Paulsen’s written legacy would not exist
without the librarian who took an interest in him
and gave him the library card that unleashed his talents.
Paulsen authored hundreds of books,
which sold millions of copies
and touched more lives than we may ever know about.
He especially spoke to young boys,
who may not have considered themselves as readers
before they encountered his stories.
Gary Paulsen repaid a librarian’s kindness
by empowering a generation of readers
to understand the power of a good story.
May some of those readers now step forward
and carry on his life’s work.
