Blue Jay

Fly, blue bird.

Don’t let them clip your wings.

Find your freedom through uncensored words.

Speaking messages when you sing.

Dictator, please cut the cords from my wrists... let me move!

Remove the cloth from over my mouth.

Why must you approve!?

I was born lost and free,

With the choice to scream and cry.

I got attention that I needed, without fearing I would die.

Don’t suppress me.

Don’t oppress me.

I will always fight back.

Perhaps not with a fist,

But with words I’ll attack.

I need to glide.

I am not made for slavery.

Speaking simple truth is considered some sort of bravery.

Would you take my life, for the stance I take....

For the noise I make....

For the silence I break?

If yes, then take it...

And take it fast

There is more life in words,

When I’m gone, they will last.

This body will fade, and you may see me no more,

But you can’t kill all memories nor the soul....

It will soar.

Raven
