New Man Emerging

New Man Emerging

Flesh upon ingenious rack of bone
Am I, neighbour to the galaxies,
And in my fragile house of form, alone
Wed to earth and God’s infinities.
I am the flower at the precipice’ edge,
The turning of the earth by worm and vole,
A thousand daily births by Nature’s pledge
To carry forth the progress of the Soul.
Blindly I grew and largely unaware
Of other selves, satellites of my sun,
Yet foundered not for the Angel of God was there
To guide and to protect a work begun
In former lives and wrought through pain and death
That waking now I might participate,
As conscious man inhale a conscious breath
And on the future body meditate.
Now the consecrated life begins;
Emerging from the chrysalis of night,
Throwing off my virtues and my sins
I spread abroad my gossamer wings of light.
