Remembered Days

The days were never long enough
In the village and in the city
When friends together their lives complete
Meeting everyone’s ‘hello’ a treat
 
Each one an island but together not
Common ground was everywhere found
Bonded by companionship and mutual like
Passing years though did them strike
 
Other places other faces, now the ties are broken
Memories stretched diluted changed and overtaken
Compelling wishes, an altered loyalty unspoken
A returned glance to previous times heartbroken
 
Life’s expectation that certain paths are taken
Taking down, breaking down that long existing ground
But loyalty can overcome and be profound
Connections to a heart that cannot be unshaken

Life for some in the NOW and also in their memories, we are individuals making our journey through that life...
