The Boy in the Mask

The boy in the mask stood still at last
Trying to find himself in the glass
When along came his father
Who being dressed in a gown
Said why are you always letting me down
Get back in the house and don’t make a sound

All doors are locked, and the windows shut down
Even the flags have been brought to the ground
But there’s nothing left that cannot be found
The searchers arrive with a hungry hound
Set up a base and make up a compound
They’ve got nothing to do but hang around

The boy in the mask shows is face at last
“He’s not the one,” says the sergeant in charge
So they pack up the place and move out fast
The dad in the long gown calls his wife Marge
And they all walk off down to the river barge
Then as they cast off they lower the mast

Away from this place they increase their pace
Trying to leave, not to be in their race
Going somewhere, hide from the prejudice
If you’re different you need a fortalice
They now have to hide away from the rest
And hope in their hearts that they will be blessed

Looking into oneself, seeing perhaps another you, trying to escape from your "Now"
being pursued by memories, but with loyalty to parents, and much more....
