Calico Mountain

White to green to red to brown
To bare branches all around,
Changing colors from the sun
As seasons march to nature’s drum.

Calico mountains are never the same,
And the seasons go by a different name.
But what if the colors never changed?
A stationary sun would be so strange.
Thank Mother Nature for many reasons.
Thank God for the change of seasons.

I wrote this poem for "The Belt and Beyond."
