The bestial creed
Of the hungry predator,
The circumvention
Of affection
For the sake of pleasure,
The final phase of love
Before the dawning,
The disregard of the rules
As love longs for love
To be prolonged,
For it to sink into
Each other’s hearts
If not in a day
But arriving
With the seasons,
Not into
Each other’s keeping
But letting freedom
Lay down the rules
And control the feelings
Acquired through abstinence.
