Runaway Sam

Runaway Sam with a runaway plan,
A gift for the ladies with a wedding band,
A hawker and a talker and a smooth operator,
Never worked a day, a greater labor hater.

Into bank accounts of the ladies so smitten,
Lovers of his words in poetry unwritten,
Promises and vows of a wedding day ahead,
A Samulated, calculated exit instead.

“Where goeth that no good for nothing Sam?
That wonderful, marvelous, hunk of a man?
That charmer, that yarner, that man I possess?”
Said the lady at the altar in the wedding dress.

“I’m far away in another town
With another name on distant ground,”
So saith the spirit of Runaway Sam.
