The Stillness

The Stillness

As If life had stopped
Busy busy in its clamoring
As if all voices were muted
Except the moaning from the tombs
Life got tired of running
To nowhere like a nomad
Searching for the abyss

In the forest in the
Stillness of the night
Leaves growing tired
From their vigorous dancing
Drooping down from their perches
As night-time casts its veil
Over the exhausted earth

Night owls in their faithful vigilance
Eyes affixed to unfamiliar rustlings
Those deep eyes like sages
Quiet in their sapient speech
Living thru’ the night with the
Knowledge of the day

Stillness of the night
I can hear your quiet pulse
Of tired violets sleeping
After their daily
Bustling with the sun
Stillness of the night
Take me home to bed
