The Target

The Target

Wealth was easy to come by for him.  His acute mind made it possible to achieve it, and his ambition led the way to his success.
He was a hard working man, devoted to the welfare of his family.  Through the years, from the sweat of his brow, he amassed his fortune and from his noble heart, used it to help those in need.
Some people were totally grateful, in that they sincerely intended to repay him for his kindness in some way or another.  Some took advantage of his generosity, and expected him to help them in need with no intent to pay him back.
He was a human target.  Those who had him in their sights, had their ulterior motives when they befriended him.  Their smiles weren’t a token of friendship, but rather a facade of deceit.  Their first fraud was in cheating themselves; then all sin after that came easy.  If he wasn’t wealthy, those people would have nothing to do with him.   Friendship to them was in essence, “What can you do for me?”  They are like vultures that prey on human kindness.
Since true ambition works through its own independent integrity, laziness works on its dependency upon ambition’s success and its ability to deceive.
