Lightning Bug

Firefly flits and flies furtively to overanalyze
Statistical agonize investigate and paralyze
Sees herself through her minds eyes
Scrutinize and rationalize until lobotomize
Open wide heart freedom epitomize
Wings of fire eyes dark coal pierce your soul
All or nothing on your sleeve love or disbelieve
A lens of fire glowing within her own desire
You can’t catch a star inside a mason jar
Chasing flairs in summer airs
Incongruously alone they want her light
Fireball streaks can’t be caught in an urn
Twisting lid chokes her heat and her soul
You can’t catch her brilliant comet fire burn
Bottled blonde beauty you can’t control
Flitting and flying furtively it’s her selection
She won’t be grasped with acceptance or rejection
Firefly isn’t a possession
Luscious lips and parted thighs
Brilliant wings and oh those eyes!
Where she lands she baptizes
She chastises and disguises her surprises
They don’t want the firefly
They want her freedom
