Woman On The Street (Image From The City)

I seen a woman with three coats on,
And she was shivering in the cold,
She lay on the street, no shoes on her feet,
And she must have been 60 years old,
Her hands was trembling, in the night she was shaking,
With no place to call her own,
But this was a moment, just like any other,
Seeing a poor soul, helpless without shelter,
How I wish I could’ve gone and just embraced her,
But I didn’t wish at all to go disturb her,
So I kept on walking down the road,

Well a voice come and caught me as I was walking,
It was Officer Davis, Boy in Blue,
I stopped and I watched as he came on over,
And tapped the homeless woman on her shoulder,
She didn’t move at all and it was very, very cold,
And I suddenly thought of the worst,
But this was a moment, just like any other,
Seeing a poor soul, helpless without shelter,
How I wish I could’ve gone and just embraced her,
But I just watched, like you and any other,
And she lay still on the cold sidewalk road,

Well he turned her over and what do I see,
But her face just stuck in a stare,
Looking forever upwards to what some might call heaven,
And I knew she had left this world,
Then I turned away and kicked up my boots,
A frozen tear fell from my eyes,
This was a moment, just like any other,
Seeing a poor soul, helpless without shelter,
How I wish I could’ve gone and just embraced her,
But she had died and the cops went and took her away…
