ON BEING FIFTY-FIVE

So now, you say, you are fifty-five
And that you are all grown up and old,
And you think you are smarter—wiser.
(Yesser! that is just what she was told.)

At what age do they learn right from wrong?
Does their conscious sometimes go to rest?
Nope! They are always fighting, learning
Until they face that final test.

Don’t be disturbed at life’s changing ways,
No better time you will ever find,
Enjoy the best of your here and now,
Because your spent youth is far behind.

You will be a known Senior Citizen,
But now whatever your time may seem,
You have not reached that of old age,
You are only just an in-between.
