PASS IT ON

People come and go,
They are all passersby.
Some come to show,
A path on which others can rely.

Some have come to build,
Others have come to destroy.
Look how wide is the field,
If their gift they will employ.

They can sow the seeds for others,
That night came to pass their way,
They in turn will be new brothers,
To build new roads some day.

They have been given a legacy,
A history that is rich and true,
Of lives that built a democracy,
Now the rest is up to you.

Pass it on, pass it on,
Precious memories won’t depart,
When stories of old are gone,
Are still dear to the heart.

Things of value, things that last,
Stories of courage and fear.
Even though times go by fast,
Those will never disappear.
