Father Time

The years pass him bye
Like the warinessof Father’s
All-seeing eye,
Like logs so tacitly tossed into the fire,
Chronus is keeping track we aspire,
The minutes of your life tick tick
Like the crackling of the roaring fire lick
We are all conceived through
Parents unbridled desire,
Love, Mother’s milk & Father’s pride
The stove log is fed fuel oxygen & heat,
Not unlike the zest of our lives
In their zenith,
Our wonder years like a star,
We shine forth bright go far,
Years of discovery of appetite,
Teen years bring forth blue light,
Of intense heat,
The temperature rising
To meet life challenges & feats,
In middle years the burning slows,
Time for reflection & repose,
Growth slows,
Wisdom comes & passes,
Ushers in old age of ashes,
The star burns bright super-nova,
The life is lived Hallelejah
