Seaward Stream

You’re like my poems, left undone,
Plangent verses, 'neath the sun.
I wish your love lingered, a bit more,
Now I’m stranded on this desolate shore.

How did you cling to the edges of me?
Holding tight, though they cut you deep.
Now this love has nowhere to flow,
Trapped within, where emotions sow.

Until you return, I’m a ship at sea,
Calling you home, where you shouldn’t be.
