Modest Man's Ode

Sunset streaks across black sky
Reflects the Earth kept in your eyes.
And like the gems held underground,
The beauty inside keeps me digging down.

Oh angel walking in our world;
I’m  humbled before thee.
Was it by a higher plan
That you found your way to me?
I’m not like the other dogs, won’t snatch you with my claws,
I’ll see you aloft on pure white wings, and accept you for your flaws

Angel of the Earth, Im not sure just when or how
I found the grace (or was it luck?)
To find myself under your brow;
Why question it? I’ll keep content
With the smile I’ve got now
Day by day, and for the best,
Shall be my simple vow.
