Confection

Affection or Affliction

As I looked for that perfect cake
I tried so many and yet none have availed
White, chocolate, velvet flowing
None have proved my tastes

As I searched for that perfect cake
I got lost within all the options
Whether it was slick icing, or smooth buttercream
None could match my tastes
None could fulfill my dreams

As I yearned for that perfect cake
I gave into so many others
Saying that it was the one... when it truly was not
Oh, how enticing each one was
But all of it was for naught

As I found that perfect cake
Its beauty shined brighter than gold
More elegant than a harmonious beat
It played with my heart strings
Oh how I remember it...
Oh how mocking it was to others
Or maybe...
It was to me... bittersweet.

Hope you enjoy this poem's sweet words. Or maybe it is bittersweet for you all.
