Wind of Reconciliation

The desert silence is broken by the roaring of wind traveling,
And like distant thunder it speaks of the energy to follow.
I brace myself, not knowing if this will be a chilled melancholy wind,
Or a warm wind of sensuality.

Both can grab hold of me in this desert oasis;
Blowing into my heart and soul with past, present and future.
I stand in the open; eyes closed and arms outstretched
Ready to embrace all the wind holds for me.

The first gust chills my body, alive in nakedness to the elements.
I let the full force of the wind have me; mind, body and spirit.
Each gust swirls me with memories of the past;
Love, heartache, joy, sorrow, wrongs and grace.

The cool melancholy wind waters my eyes, but I don’t resist.
My tears flow like a flash flood from the past,
Teasing me with old fears and threatening new sadness;
But, these are the cleansing tears of reconciliation.

The wind becomes a warm breeze, bringing calmness to my spirit.
It wraps around and through me as if making love to my soul.
The past and present are at peace within me;
Needing both to feel alive in the future.
