A Warrior's Prayer

I have answered to the trumpets call
Ran toward my foe to meet
To valiantly defend our cause
I’ll never sound retreat

Though the battle rages round me
And rally comrades all
Hold fast my heart don’t fail me
As I hasten to your call

Even though outnumbered
Your shield has proven strong
My faith begins my courage
Your Glory my anthem song.

I have trampled upon lions
Crushed serpents with my feet
You protect me from my enemies
I will never taste defeat.

Upon this tear and blood stained field
Prove this my last request
I pray you grant me strength and calm
To pass another test.

This road upon I travel
Has proven long and steep
Your promise is my armor
Your wings will shelter me.

So when the final trumpet sounds
And my purpose here is done
I will hear you calling out to me
Come home my child, well done.
