Depression is a never-ending battle, when one battle ends another begins. The strongest fight these battles all the time, often alone; rather by choice for fear of being a burden to others or by no choice of their own. Episodes of depression can be triggered by anything, feelings of inadequacy, bullying or being lonely.  Most often those that battle with depression are great at hiding it, they have the biggest smiles, and biggest hearts. Because they know how it feels to be hurt, how it feels to be alone or scared of being left behind. So, they do everything they can to make those around them happy, to feel safe and loved. Those that battle with depression just want to be happy and for everyone around them to be happy. Depression isn’t a nasty word that should be stigmatized, we shouldn’t feel afraid of judgement or made to feel small because none of us are perfect. We try so hard to be better than everyone else, to have the nicest clothes, cars, biggest house, the most friends, the most money. This puts to much pressure on us, we should just be trying to be the best person we can. Because when we die no one is going to remember how much money you had, how fancy your clothes were or how many expensive cars you had. They will remember what kind of person you were, and how you treated them and made them feel. Life isn’t a competition.
