Happy Halloween !!!
It was the 31 of October
Now let’s set the scene
I’d planned to stay in
But it was Halloween!
The night was dark and gloomy
The street lights on but dim
My hubby was off to a party
And asked me to join him.
I was asked to meet at the big old house
Just off jubilee park
I felt nervous and excited
Loved to party but hated the dark!
I opened the door to leave
Pitch black, I could hear my heart beat
Then suddenly out of nowhere
Came a raucous TRICK OR TREAT!!
Ahhhhh I screamed in to the night
Falling back in to the frame
My life it flashed before me
But it was kids just playing their game.
The door was locked behind me
My journey had begun
Heavy breathing under the costume
I wore to make the evening fun.
It felt kind of eerie
The sky it held no stars
The street was cold and empty
Not even passing cars!!
Time to get a move on I thought
Not far to travel now
Turned to check behind me
Suddenly a deafening MEEEAAW!!!
My silly friend Lizzy
She’s as daft as a bat
Was off to a party
Dressed as a witches cat.
Good evening I said sternly
As I made off once again
Obviously more anxious
Thinking Lizzy was a pain.
As I passed the houses
I observed the evil pumpkins glow
Which didn’t help my cause
But I hadn’t far to go.
At last I reached my destination
Running slightly late
So placed my hand upon the lock
Of the big old houses gate,
The drive was very long and dark
For a female on her own
Uneven broken stepping stones
Trees and bushes overgrown.
Deep breaths I told myself
You’re not alone, pretend
Just focus on the party
Waiting at the other end.
Each step I gently trod
Scared that I might trip
My mind was doing overtime
I kept thinking GET A GRIP!!!
The wind was ripping at the trees
Wind chimes played a spooky tune,
At last the door I’d longed to reach
In front lit by the moon.
Hello came a croaky voice
Can I help you pet?
Hi there, love the outfit
Has the party started yet??
What party are you talking about
He sneeringly replied
I know next door are having one
Right around the other side!
Ohhh no I couldn’t believe it
I turned to leave in my disguise
The lights and music came on
And people shouted SURPRISE!!!!
