The Optimist

“In the hour of adversity, be not without hope;
for crystal rain falls from black clouds.”
– Nizam

A Sonnet

Unforgiving fortunes, hammered by fate
His lonely existence somewhat unkind
Fair worldly success he could never find
His best efforts always little too late

But born stubborn never disconsolate
Dreams ambitions he never left behind
Trials tribulations willfully blind
Bright future he’s determined to create

With persistence, ever the optimist
He knocks on doors of opportunities
For providence he seeks in gloom and mist!
Still, for relief he prays while on his knees
For in the end, there’s truth he can’t resist
Not him, ‘tis the Lord that rules land and seas!
