Her mind
is a house afire
Inside
two angry children
They are unknown
to each other
We can’t extinguish
this blaze, out of control
It is not enough
it is eternal.
She’s fallen down
A well.
“Come too close
and I will burn you”
“Stray too far
and I will freeze you”
“ Save me
and you will die”
And I have died
with her, time and again.
Surely the Physicians
will know
or the nursemaid
will attend.
This suffering
egg-soul,
as bright as the Kenyan sun
and dark as the arctic night.
She is water now,
a tiny stream,
eventually to empty
into the vastness of an ocean.
