A Day Spent in Quiet Splendor
Walk with me
in a field of flowing flowers wild
and swaying
petals colored and displaying,
stems nurtured by the hands of the sun
and washed by the tears of angels praying...
Sit with me
under the sun drenched green canopy
of the weeping willow...
Place your head in my lap
and with fingers born of swallows’ wings
I shall smooth your troubled brow...
Speak with me
in quiet conversation
in whispered tones hushed by whistling leaves
Of...
Hopes and dreams
fears and regrets
loves and losses
this and that, and nothing at all...
Drink with me
from the liquid coolness
of the running stream
which borders our weeping willow hideaway...
feel the nectar of life course down your throat
and ease your troubled soul
with cool sustenance unending...
giving rise to poetic inspiration blooming...
Eat with me
the fruits of poetic discourse
the rhythm, rhyme and meter...
the metaphorical musings,
the imagery, simile, and sonnet...
the iambic traditions of Shakespeare, Keats and Yeats...
the modern verse of Wordsworth, Frost, and Hughes...
the emotive tastes of the soul unleashed upon the word...
