Wine ...
I like wine.
With every sip I take I reveal something about myself
I become this whole other person
One who isn’t afraid to speak up
One who isn’t scared of anything or anyone
And I like that girl
The wine girl.
That girl has to be kept hidden after all
She’s too bold
She digs holes for herself
Holes that sometimes I can’t get her out of
So I stop drinking the wine.
No I’m not an alcoholic,
This isn’t a poem for an AA Meeting,
This is just me telling the ugly truth.
I like wine.
With every sip I take the pain goes away just a little more
And not just any pain
Pain hidden within
The pain that damages you the most.
That pain has to be embraced after all
It won’t go away
It’ll mold me into someone stronger
I can’t let it all go away
I need it
So I stop drinking the wine.
