Willow Trees

For every night I could only dream,
For every fear I could not scream,
For every time I hid my cry,
And for every day I wanted to die:
There was a reason I stayed alive.
I was simply waiting for you to arrive.
For you to save me from it all
And for you to help me stand up tall.
I need your hand to hold mine tight;
Guide me through the roughest night.
Don’t let me slip into the dark.
Shadows bent in an ominous arc
Harbor my fear in a jail of tendrils -
Watching demons butcher their kills.
Save me from this blackness inside.
We cannot run and we cannot hide,
So we must wholly banish this thing
Once and for all; a final end to bring.
Defeat this mighty beast of burden,
So that no more souls can be taken.
No more sacrifices shall be burned,
But this freedom must be earned.
We have to fight with heart and word,
And our chanting must be heard
Over the inferno’s mighty roar,
Through the bloodshed and the gore.
We fight together, hand in hand.
We will not fall to this last stand.
One heart worn upon our sleeves
Until the evergreens are bare of leaves.
Our strength at most when combined;
When our fingers are intertwined.
Kiss me now and get me through,
I promise that I will fight with you.
Break through the demonic line,
And the light will once again shine
At the break of dawn on a new day.
You and I will surely find a way
To be together until the end,
Then we must make time bend.
When the sun shines on you and I,
I shall no longer wish to die.
