Infinite

The empty road extends before us and the engine’s purr becomes a roar,
The next sensation is none until the car door opens and he takes my hand.
I hear the stereo play the perfect song and I open my eyes to a starry night.
Surrounded by green grass and nothingness, the music engulfs my body.

I feel him come up behind me, his hands cradle me
The song picks up and I toss my arms into the air as the world disappears.
I swing my hips and flip my hair, then I feel the rain pour down on us.
The song ends and we fall to the grass laughing, smiling, the night around us.

The rain kisses my face and he kisses my lips. When my eyes reopen he smiles.
I tuck my head under his chin and his hands move up along my sides.
His fingers carry the fabric with them, and I feel the grass on my exposed skin.
I wrap my hand around the back of his neck. I love his taste, the softness of his lips.

The moon floats higher in the sky and it hides behind the rain clouds
Thunder cracks in the distance, and I feel his body rising. He kisses me, long and slow.
His kiss is spicy, and yet so wonderfully sweet. I love him, and he loves me.
We wrap around each other and forget the imperfections of the world we live in
Because this moment– in its infinite entirety– is … perfect.
