This Starry Sky
I have studied every feature of his face
the angle of his jaw, the slant of his nose
the exact complicated color of his eyes
blue grey, and just so hypnotizing
I just stare cause he’s mesmerizing
I take shakily in mine his capable hand
I turn it over back and forth again
and with my forefinger I trace
outlining the veins standing out
up and down the line of his tendon
next I study the lines of his palm
then I link my fingers in his
giving me his charming crooked smile
he squeezes my hand a bit tighter and he stands
he leads me to his car and we drive
he takes me into the night and we stand
hand in hand under the starry sky
he points to the brightest of all the stars
he says that star is the brightest because it’s mine
I give him a look and he tells me he loves me
to him my beauty outshines this night
how can I outshine a night this perfect
I look to the sky and every star shines
it shines on us on this cloudless night
this moment is perfect, this moment is beautiful.
