The Reward of Mankind
As humans, it is our intermost secret to feel
to feel the pain of love, the love of pain– the thrill
a thrill to sympathize with our enemies in deceit
because we understand the harmony of defeat
As humans, we say we don’t want to win..But we do
and if we admit our guilt of wanting it, everyone else would too
You beg to differ? Well be my considerable guest
I do not test for questions, but I do question to test
As humans, we believe in who we want to be
because every skeptical person will not do that job for free
We laugh and drink, cry and cheat until our bones wear out
the marrow is too vulnerable with a decreasing amount
As humans, we doubt our concern for poverty and poor
we feel a guilt traveling in our mind and more
but we overlook what could have been
and feel the anxiety start all over again
Men and women, children and animals
we all do it, we thrill like true cannibals
we waste the good part of ourselves and eat the rest
in a simple mind-boggling tradition to be called “The Best”.
